Euro 2012 Group C Betting: Italy

Di Natale: Hoping for starting role.

The Azzurri are facing up to scandals, dubious form and a striker who is threatening to walk off the pitch.

Italy
Odds to win group: 7/2 (Skybet)
Odds to qualify: 8/11 (Skybet)

Trouble ahead?
The Italy camp has been gripped by yet another match-fixing scandal which has made preparations difficult at best. Friendly results have been poor, most recently a 3-0 loss to Russia. The temptation is there to back the Azzurri to finish third in Group C at 12/5 (WilliamHill) or even fourth at 11/2 (Bluesquare).

Defensive stalwarts?
The one thing that they can still surely rely on is the odd clean sheet. Just two goals conceded in qualifying ranked as the best on the continent. They are 5/4 (BetVictor) to let in fewer than three in the opening trio of matches.

1-0 to the Italy?
With plenty of question marks up front but with a sturdy defence, victories by a solitary goal must be quite likely. Cesare Prandelli’s team are 11/2 (Bet365) to beat Croatia 1-0 and 5/1 (Boylesports) to see off the Irish by the same scoreline.
