You Lucky Beggar
Has dropped 11lbs from the start of the season but still running well and had excuses of late.
Winning sprint handicaps is all about fine margins and they might just have fallen in favour of Lucky Beggar in the 2.35 Doncaster.
On his last couple of starts he’s finished in the top half of the field but not threatened the judge. In the Portland he helped set a strong pace but understandably faded near the finish, especially over the intermediate trip of 5f140y.
Despite running perfectly adequate races the handicapper has relented and Lucky Beggar is 11lbs lower than when he started the season.
Three starts back he was not beaten far at Goodwood, running better than the bare form because he was switched from the stand’s side rail to the centre of the track, forfeiting ground.
Adaptable regards going and drawn in the centre of the track he should run a good race at 10/1 (William Hill).
