York Tips: Easton Angel
Outstanding juvenile sprinter in the first half of last season but then her form tailed off. At her best she should win this.
Last season was a tale of two halves for Easton Angel. She won her first two starts and was desperately unlucky when second to the American freak Acapulco in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot.
The pair were drawn on opposite sides of the track and although Easton Angel ran out of partners, she still earned a massive speed rating in defeat.
Thereafter everything started to go wrong. The step-up to 6f didn’t suit, she lost her next two starts and then was turned over at odds-on when dropped back to 5f at Ayr. Perhaps by then she’d simply had enough and hopefully she can return to the level she displayed at Ascot.
If Easton Angel can recapture her early two-year-old form, she could still turn into a Group-performer and at 10/3 (William Hill) is worth the risk.
