York Races Tip: Edinburgh Knight

Ran a blinder at Ascot when the ground was a shade quick. Has the plum draw on the stand’s rail and softer conditions.

It is third time lucky with Edinburgh Knight in the 4.10 at York. As previously written this horse looks extremely well handicapped based on his all weather achievements. He looked an impressive horse in the making this winter and was purposely put away for a turf campaign.

He finally made his bow at Ascot last week where he ran a great race to finish third. One furlong out he was travelling like the winner but the stiff uphill finish just found him out. The flatter track at York makes the six furlongs less demanding which will suit him.

In the first two days of the Dante meeting, the jockeys have made a move to the stand’s rail. That part of the track definitely looks quicker and drawn 20 of 20, Edinburgh Knight can exploit the bias. Jockey Andrew Heffernan takes the ride; he has a useful 3lbs allowance and has two wins from three rides for trainer Paul D’Arcy.
