After floundering in the Nunthorpe, Requinto is back amongst his own age group. The 4/1 (William Hill) favourite has most of these held on his Molecomb victory at Goodwood and is 3 from 4 over the minimum trip. At bigger prices, Kohala is fancied to run well at 10/1 with Betfred. A winner of the St. Hugh’s stakes last time out, she has progressed each race this season. Two of the last three St. Hugh’s winners went on to taste success in this race.

1.55 Mallard Stakes Handicap – 1m6f132y

A valuable stayers handicap, the last two winners of the race are back for more. Nanton the 2009 winner is 20/1 (Paddy Power) with last year’s victor Precision Break at 8/1 (William Hill). Dropping down in grade, Eternal Heart at 6/1 (Ladbrokes) looks the most likely winner having scored in this sort of company earlier in the season.

2.25 Doncaster Cup Group Two – 2m2f

Opinion Poll has won the last two Cup contests at the Ebor meeting and Glorious Goodwood. Second in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot he is becoming a specialist at these races. The 2/1 favourite (William Hill) is the one they all have to beat.

3.00 May Hill Stakes Group Two – 1m

The juveniles are stepping up in trip for this mile contest. None of them have ever raced beyond seven furlongs so there is an element of guess work whether they will get the trip. Royal Ascot winner Samitar has the best form in the book but at 7/1 (Stan James) there are doubts whether the extra two furlongs will suit her. Having won at seven furlongs the likes of Fallen For You 15/8 (Coral) and Lyric Of Light 8/1 (Bet365) look better prospects.
