Southwell Tips: Thorpe Bay
A combination of new trainer and a return to Southwell sparked him into life four days ago. He should build on that performance in what is a very weak race.
I had been hoping to study some high grade sprint races this weekend, unfortunately the vagaries of the British weather have intervened and we are on the fibresand.
The 2.35 Southwell is a moderate affair where Thorpe Bay should confirm the promise he made on his first start for Michael Appleby.
Thorpe Bay couldn’t quite get past Divertimenti four days ago but it was his best run for over a year, which coincidentally also came at Southwell. It might be the change in yard, or perhaps just the track brings the best out in him. Either way he looks the best horse in the field.
