Southwell Tips: Speightowns Kid
Went close in a similar race three starts back and better than the bare form last time. Badly drawn and outpaced over minimum trip.
People are put off backing Ann Stokell runners because of her poor strike rate as a jockey (2%) and a trainer (3%), however everyone has their price.
Speightowns Kid joined the yard in December and has run a series of good races. He was just touched off over today’s course and distance on 2 January and is capable of winning at this level.
He ran flat a couple of starts back but that seems an aberration as he returned to form last time out. Badly drawn in stall 11, he did phenomenally well to finish sixth, especially as 5f is too sharp for him nowadays.
Up in trip, he’s more likely to grab the lead and is a big price at 33/1 (Bet365).
