Southwell Tips: Sophisticated Heir
Ran well on only Fibresand start, showing bright pace but not quite getting home over a mile.
Sophisticated Heir is now 11lbs higher than when winning in September and although he’s failed to score since a change in surface could bring about the necessary improvement.
It’s not like he’s been running badly either, he’s finished third in four of his last five starts but he just needs to find a little bit extra.
Back in March, Sophisticated Heir finished third over a mile at Southwell (his only Fibresand start) attempting to make all over a trip that stretches his stamina, he simply ran out of gas.
This afternoon he tackles his optimum trip of 6f and trainer/jockey could scarcely be in better form. Robert Winston is riding out of his skin and has a 40% strike rate (8-20) for Michael Herrington on the all-weather.
