Southwell Tips: Laura’s Bairn

Won both his races over course and distance and his running style is ideally suited to the fibresand.

We have our first taste of action on Southwell’s 5f chute, since the course reopened after flooding. If the surface rides like the 6f track I expect front-runners to have an advantage and this could suit Laura’s Bairn.

He’s not the hardiest of types, often having long breaks between runs, but he does like Southwell’s 5f track. He is 2/2 over course and distance, winning both races by a minimum of 2-lengths.

This is a step up in grade for the 4-year-old, but he has the ideal running style for fibresand; he blasts off in front and enjoys a straight track. At 20/1 (Stan James) he is a big price considering he is unbeaten over course and distance.
