Southwell Tips: Katy’s Secret
Twice a course and distance winner and last run deserves upgrading as she raced on the slowest part of the track.
The 12.50 Southwell is one of those occasions where there is so much early pace in the race I want to be on a horse that is ridden more conservatively.
Katy’s Secret is a two-time winner over course and distance and both victories were achieved by tracking the leader, the ideal running style for today’s contest. This will also be her third race after a summer break, therefore she should be in peak condition.
Last time out at Lingfield she was only beaten 2.25 lengths in a reasonable claimer. She was forced to make her run tight against the far rail which is usually the worst place to be. Switched back to her favourite fibresand surface and her optimum trip she looks overpriced at 8/1 (Stan James).
