Southwell Tips: Ezra Church

Looks the stable first string and has won over course and distance before.

The 13:10 at Southwell second division looks a much easier race on paper. Very few of these horses have been able to make their mark at class four level with most of them looking exposed.

Having only his second start on the fibresand, Ezra Church could be the best handicapped horse in the race. He won his maiden over course and distance, recording a good speed rating in the process. We’ve not seen much of him since and this is his first race in 197 days. That shouldn’t be a concern as he runs well fresh, having previously been victorious after a four month layoff.

The David Barron yard are in good form with two winners in the last 14 days and it is interesting that Lee Newman rides Ezra Church instead of Ingleby Arch. Presumably he had the choice of the two, suggesting this horse is the stable’s best chance in the race. Back him at 5/1 with Boylesports.
