Southwell Tips: Clubland
Won from a poor draw on his last start at Southwell and well berthed today.
Clubland overcame a tricky draw to win his last start and he will be difficult to beat in the 3.50 Southwell.
Roy Bowring’s 4-year-old has won his last two starts, each time recording a fast time for the grade. I was particularly impressed by his win over course and distance 29 days ago.
He was drawn in stall 1 in a big field, which meant he was isolated from the pack during the first furlong and had to use up energy to get across to the favoured centre of the track.
He still finished full of running to win by 1.25 lengths, a performance that can be marked up because of the draw. Racing in the same grade this afternoon, he should go well again and looks the best bet at 2/1 (Stan James).
