Southwell Tips: Clear Ice

I tipped Clear Ice five days ago and quite frankly he ran a shocker but I’m giving him a second chance in the 3.20 at Southwell.

There was a fierce tailwind behind the runners last week and the five furlongs seemed too sharp for Clear Ice, he was badly outpaced and never got competitive. In hindsight six furlongs is more his trip, as the early pace isn’t quite so frantic.

His record over six furlongs at Southwell is: 22132215 proving he rarely finishes outside the frame. He has improved since moving to Gay Kelleway in the summer and it is interesting to see Amy Ryan take the ride, she has 2 wins from 3 when racing for the yard.
