Southwell Tips: Argentine
Has race conditions to suit and twice a winner at the track.
The 1.00 at Southwell is a good little race for the grade with three recent course winners but I’m ignoring them all in favour of Argentine. I’ve been waiting for this horse to run at Southwell for what seems like an eternity; now that he does I’m not going to miss out.
For Argentine to win he needs a strong gallop and a stiff track. He is guaranteed a good pace with the likes of Wreningham and Tancred Spirit in the line up. The testing nature of Southwell’s fibresand also plays to his strengths, as the slow surface ensures that he doesn’t get outpaced by the sharper horses.
A duel course and distance winner, his last victory came in a much higher grade than this. Under ideal conditions, he should prove too good for the opposition at 9/2 (Paddy Power).
