Southwell Tip: Stylistickhill

Trainer Dandy Nicholls has an excellent record at the venue and this unexposed horse could have improved considerably during her break.

The 5.50 at Southwell is an incredibly weak race with several horses out of form. After landing a huge gamble at Wolverhampton, Riflessione turns out under a penalty and is the short price favourite. At 5/2, the boat has well and truly set sail for a horse who hasn’t won over six furlongs since he was a two-year-old; he is a terrible bet.

At Southwell, any horse trained by Dandy Nicholls is worth a second glance. He has a 19% strike rate, with a profit of £164.32 if you put £1 on all his runners at the track for the last five years. He saddles Stylistickhill and at 12/1 (William Hill) she is worth chancing.

Having only her fourth run, she has been given a handicap rating of 55, which doesn’t seem unfair. On her debut she ran a good fourth over course and distance, in a race that was won in a fast time.  She earned a speed rating good enough to win a minor handicap like this one. It is almost certain she will have improved since her debut, and it will not take much to beat this moderate bunch.
