Southwell Tip: Piazon

Southwell Tip: Piazon

Gave the in-form Captain Lars a good race from a poor draw four days ago.

Three meetings on a Bank Holiday is an odd bit of planning from the BHA, not only limiting our options to go racing but also to have a bet. Southwell is the only all-weather meeting and on a tricky looking card Piazon looks a sound bet.

His course and distance record is 112 and gave our tip a scare 4 days ago when he ran Captain Lars close in a better race.

The pair finished 2.5 lengths clear of the third horse and Piazon can be counted slightly unlucky. He clocked a big speed rating but was drawn poorly in stall 14 and it’s almost impossible to win on the straight track when drawn up the nearside rail.

Joshua Bryan takes off a useful 7lbs and has ridden the horse on three of its last four starts striking up a good rapport with the 6-year-old.
