Southwell Tip: Cape Kimberley

The only horse to show any semblance of form in what is an incredibly weak race.

The 2.50 at Southwell won’t go down as a racing classic but I think we can find an easy winner and all move on. Cape Kimberley hasn’t run for 115 days but has gone well off a break before. Trainer Tony Newcombe has sent out a winner and two placed horses in the last 14 days, so stable form isn’t a worry.

Last time over seven furlongs he finished a creditable seventh beaten by almost three lengths. A drop back in trip to six furlongs should suit and he has winning form at Southwell as a two year old.

Cape Kimberley is jockey George Baker’s only ride at Southwell on Tuesday. Baker doesn’t race at Southwell as often as the other all weather tracks but he has a 20% strike rate and that in itself is a good enough tip.
