Southwell Tip: Boogie Waltzer
Shown winning form at a higher level than this and has two wins from three starts at course and distance.
The 7.30 at Southwell should provide solid form, with several course specialists lining up. Shawkantango is looking for a fifth win to maintain his 100% record at the track, but I’m opposing him with Boogie Waltzer.
Her record over five furlongs on the fibresand is almost as good, with two wins and a second place. She has spent most of the last 12 months competing in class four races, a grade above this. Overall, her form looks better.
She beat La Capriosa to win at Southwell last August and finished fourth in a decent sprint at Ascot. Her usual competition is much stronger than anything Shawkantango can claim to have beaten.
With five wins and nine placed efforts from 23 starts, she is a tough competitor. She knows how to win and this is the easiest race she has been in for a while.
