Southwell Racing Tip: Takajan
Three wins from seven outings over course and distance make him a solid proposition.
The favourite Where’s Reiley has to be taken on in the 4.20 at Southwell. Over five furlongs his record is 4-16 but over further it is 1-11. His fast finishing style suggest he could be better over further but he isn’t.
Takajan is a much stronger bet. His record over six furlongs as Southwell reads 1366121. Those two sixth place runs are a worry but the came within five days of each other in the middle of December when there was a lot of snow around. Perhaps he is a horse who doesn’t like the cold!
Regardless his trainer has been flying this winter, with a strike rate of 25% for the last 3 months (17wins-68runs). Takajan has everything in his favour and it is surprising to see him as big as 4/1.
