Southwell Racing Tip: Interchoice Star

Revitalised by a switch in trainer. With a bit better luck this horse would have won three of his last four starts.

It’s groundhog day in the 1.20 at Southwell. As tipped last week, the paper favourite Where’s Reiley is not a six furlong horse. He is 5-17 when racing over 5 furlongs but only 1-12 over further. I expect the only reason he pitches up here is because he can run under a 6 pound penalty for last week’s win. When the handicapper reassesses him, he will probably be put up by more than 6lbs.

Last time Where’s Reiley ran over six furlongs he was beaten by Interchoice Star and I expect the same result. Since moving to Ray Peacock’s yard Interchoice Star’s form reads 2321. He was beaten a short head on his first run, and would have won his penultimate start if it wasn’t for interference. With a bit better luck this horse could have won 3 of his last 4 starts.

Add to the fact he won his last start from stall 1, which is a terrible draw at Southwell, and he looks primed to run another big race.
