Southwell Racing Tip

The strong pace should set the race up perfectly for this out and out galloper.

The 14.30 at Southwell should be run at a strong pace with the likes of Ponting, Errigal Lad and Dancing Freddy in the field setting it up for something off the pace.

Itsthursdayalready won under exactly those circumstances on the 9th January and is primed to do so again. For a sprinter Itsthursdayalready lacks the change of gears to be wholly effective, this was borne out in his last two runs at Kempton and Wolverhampton, both much sharper tracks, he got outpaced around the bend and let the leaders get first run only for him to stay on for minor placings.

It is no coincidence then that he has placed (with one win) on all three visits to Southwell. The deeper nature of the fibresand suits resolute gallopers by blunting the out and out speed-balls allowing the likes of Itsthursdayalready to stay in touch with the leaders and wear them down in the straight. The race should pan out this way today and he is fancied to find the winning thread.

It should be noted that Gold Story holds simliar claims but he has looked a very awkward ride and rather threw away a chance of victory with his attitude last time out. Four runners up spots in a row leave a big question mark over his application at the business end of a race and until he has won he is avoided.
