Southwell Horse Racing Tips: Six Wives
Looked unlucky finishing ninth over course and distance when fluffing the start – she wasn’t beaten far in a better race.
Sometimes when I study a race the winner leaps off the page and that is the case with Six Wives in the 2.30 at Southwell.
A previous course and distance winner, I watched with interest when she contested a class four handicap last month. She had a horrible start, stumbling out of the gates and giving the field a three-length headstart. Her jockey then rushed her back into contention only to run up the back of another horse. She paid for that mid-race effort, finishing a tired ninth, but only 5.25 lengths behind the winner.
She re-opposes Dancing Freddy today, the current favourite, but he struggles to win on the all-weather (1-21) and probably needs a stiffer test than this straight five. With Six Wives dropped in grade, if she breaks on level terms she should go close at 7/1 (Bet365).
