Southwell Five Furlong Tip
Plenty of early speed in the race and the suspicion is this selection sees out his races a bit better than his rivals.
Plenty of what pundits would call ‘cheap speed’ in the 2.45 at Southwell. The race is packed with horses who like to front run but when put under pressure their stamina can give way. I would bracket Ridley Didley, Spic ‘n’ Span and Rievaulx World in this field, they are not ungenuine and win plenty of races but they need to be left alone up front.
There is a danger that Colorus could fall into the same category but his winning at Southwell has been at a higher level in handicaps and those races tend to need a bit more stamina. If William Carson is sensible and sits him just behind the pace he should win.
