Southwell Betting: Sleep Blue Ocean
This horse was progressive until he turned a bad draw into a terrible one.
The 4.00 at Southwell is a fascinating little sprint with some familiar names. Shawkantango was a winning tip for this column a couple of weeks ago. Unfortuantly the bookmakers have cottened on to this horse and he starts 5/2 favourite. Having backed him at 6/1 in a weaker race last time the value is certainly gone.
Sleep Blue Ocean is another horse tipped this month but with less sparkling results. Drawn in stall nine of nine the jockey opted to keep the horse up the stands rail and race alone. Perhaps not the smartest of tactics. When the race evolved down the centre of the track Sleepy Blue Ocean was hopelessly out of touch.
If we ignore that run there is plenty to like on his previous visit to Southwell; winning a shade cosily in a race more competitive than this. He had the beating of Colorus that day and he should confirm the form if his jockey puts him in the race earlier.
