Sir Geoffrey Can Benefit From Drop in Class

Struggled in class 5 handicaps but has won his last two starts over course and distance in this grade.

Sir Geoffrey has been running well this winter therefore I am surprised the market has discounted him after one below-par effort.

The 8-year-old has finished 1317 on his last four starts at Southwell with two wins in class 6 handicaps and two defeats in class 5 handicaps.

Last time out it was clear he couldn’t go the gallop in a stronger race but back down in grade he should be able to keep tabs on the leaders.

He is still well handicapped on his best form and shouldn’t be 14/1 (Stan James) to win the 1.30 Southwell.
