Redcar Tips: Toby Tyler

Won this race last year and his record under today’s conditions reads: 4151911.

The overnight rain, all 10mm of it, has changed the complexion of the 3.30 Redcar. The going description has changed to good and with further rain forecast, fast ground horses will find their chances compromised.

This has all worked in the favour of Toby Tyler, winner of the race last year. Since dropping back to six furlongs, his record in class 5 handicaps is: 415194113. A sequence that improves to: 4151911 when avoiding good to firm going.

His form has been a little inconsistent this year but I put that down to being forced to race in a higher grade. Two starts ago he finished a close third at Pontefract on ground that was quicker than ideal. It was enough to showcase his well-being and back under his favourite conditions he is overpriced at 14/1 (William Hill).
