Redcar Tips: Joyful Star

Joyful Star broke his duck back at Ayr in May and has generally stepped up his form this season after a wind operation. Last time out at Hamilton he took a step backwards but that was over 8.5f whereas his best form has been at 7f.

A 14.5 length defeat looks bad but it was exacerbated by an 8 length winner and his stamina emptying up the hill at Hamilton.

In the 6.50 Redcar he reverts to 7f and he ran well when last tackling the trip. He was only beaten 2 lengths in a class 5 handicap despite the steady pace (105.2% finishing speed) not playing to his strengths. Under a different pace scenario, he would have gone close because he still clocked the fastest closing sectional.

Despite being rated 55, Joyful Star can clock a speed rating in the mid-60s if he gets a strongly run 7f. He should get that today.
