Redcar Tips: Mango Music
Travelled well during her last race, against better class opposition. Won two starts ago.
As the flat season draws to a close, trainers are often trying to fit square pegs into round holes. That looks the case in the 4.10 Redcar where several of the field are running over the wrong trip or will be unsuited by the ground.
The conditions shouldn’t be a problem for Mango Music who has done most of her winning at 6f and is versatile regards ground. At 9-years-old she isn’t as good as she once was and that is evidenced by her declining handicap mark. However, she is still capable of winning on her day, as she did two starts ago.
Since losing a bit of pace, 7f or 6f on slow ground are her optimal conditions therefore the race should suit. She travelled well for a long way on her last start, eventually beaten 5.25 lengths in a class 5 handicap, a level higher than today’s race. In that kind of form she is overpriced at 20/1 (Bet365).
