Play It Cool At Catterick
Catterick the ideal track for a horse with plenty of early speed. Cool Silk Boy has shown ability on turf before and underrated in market.
The 5f track at Catterick is one of the sharpest in the country and a test of speed is ideal for Cool Silk Boy. Still a maiden on turf, he’s run well over Southwell’s sharp 5f track and has plenty of early pace.
Last time out he actually went too quick and had nothing left in reserve to fend off the challengers, going down by 1.5 lengths. Despite the defeat he ran a solid time for the grade and looks to have potential off a mark of 67.
I wouldn’t consider Play It Cool a Fibresand-only horse. Last season he ran some good races on turf, including when fourth at Chester from a wide draw.
Catterick is ideal given his forte is speed not stamina and whilst many in the field are stepping up in grade, this is easier than he’s used to.
