Catterick Tips: Dr Red Eye

Catterick Tips: Dr Red Eye

Still retains his early pace but is 14lbs below his last winning mark and eligible for class 6 handicaps.

Dr Red Eye hasn’t won for two years but he’s tumbled down the weights and eventually he’ll hit a level where he can win – that looks like the 4.50 Catterick.

This afternoon he races off a mark of 65, something he’s not experienced since his 3-year-old career.  Crucially he drops into class 6 company for the first time in a long time and that means he’s up against slower horses.

In recent outing he’s been showing his usual early zest but has been unable to dominate better horses. His best performances have come at 7f, on a turning track with a bit of cut and that is exactly what he’s got.

Last time he raced over course and distance he was only beaten 4.5 lengths despite setting an unsuitable gallop (95.5% finishing speed). When tried in class 5 company at the track in April he finished second and down in grade again he can go one better.
