Nottingham Tips: Cheveton

Found form in his last two starts, running particularly well at Haydock when isolated against the stand’s rail.

Cheveton has shaped well in his last couple of starts hinting that he is coming to hand and he should go close in the 5.20 Nottingham.

Two starts back he finished fourth of the low drawn horses in the Ayr Bronze Cup and followed up with a 3.5 length defeat at Haydock despite having the worst of the draw.

Haydock positions after 1.5 furlongs

Cheveton circled nearside, winner Dungannon circled far side.

Cheveton was one of two horses to race against the stand’s rail (Tarooq the other) and after 1.5 furlongs they were already in arrears.

The strong pace helped those sitting behind the front-runners but it was hard for Cheveton to make all the running and overcome the deficit he faced early in the race. His 3.5 length defeat was about the best he could do.

Dropped in class this afternoon he also gets to race on his preferred soft ground. Rated 4lbs below his last winning mark, from a good draw I expect him to run a big race at 6/1 (William Hill).
