Nottingham Tip: Senate Majority

Forgive his last run as on his Haydock form he looks a good horse.

The stand’s rail is often a big advantage at Nottingham and drawn 14/14 Senate Majority can make use of it to win the 8.15.

With his rating lowered by 1lb, Tim Easterby’s gelding just sneaks into the race off top weight. Good news as this means the race is in theory fractionally easier.

Senate Majority has been progressing nicely since his maiden victory last November. More effective over five furlongs, his record this season reads 3419. Last time out the horse was favourite before flopping at Hamilton. The key to whether we can back him is understanding that last race.

Drawn in stall 1, Senate Majority was forced to race widest up the straight on what appeared the worst ground. In the last furlong jockey David Allan started to look at the horses legs as if something was amiss. The way the horse weakened suggests there was a physical problem that meant he ran below his best.

If we assume he is over that ailment, it could have been something as innocuous as losing a shoe, then he rates an excellent prospect to bounce back at Nottingham tonight.
