Newmarket Bahrain Trophy Tips: Platitude
Couldn’t live with Primitivo at Royal Ascot but well clear of third horse. Time stacks up favourably compared to Housesofparliament.
There is not a huge amount of winning form in the 2.10 Newmarket and if we can find the biggest improver we should find the winner.
Platitude only has a Doncaster maiden to his name but he’s trained on as a 3-year-old and is getting better with racing. Last time out he finished second behind the potentially smart Primitivo at Royal Ascot but he was 3 lengths clear of the third placed horse.
If anything, his run deserves a slightly upgrade. From his draw, he raced away from the pack in the early part of the race before settling in midfield behind a moderate gallop.
Primitivo was not for catching but Platitude clocked an impressive closing sectional, 0.6s clear of the third best in the field and earned an adjusted speed rating of 102. The following day Housesofparliament raced over the same course and distance but was slower over the first 10f, the final 2f and overall.
Platitude has the ability to win a minor Group race and the Bahrain Trophy fits the bill.
