Kempton & Newcastle Betting Guide
The valuable Racing+ Chase at Kempton is the day’s feature race, supported by the marathon trip that is the Eider. Both are live on Channel 4.

Nacarat is the obvious place to start. His record in the race is 123 and with his favoured good ground he should make another bold bid at 5/1 (Stan James).
Last year’s runner-up Mount Oscar is 12/1 (Betfred) to go one better this time round. At 13-years-old he isn’t getting any better but this looks a weak renewal and he has place claims.
Planet Of Sound has been saved for the better ground in the spring and with the going at Kempton described as good he should run well. His record on good ground when racing at 3miles or further is 12. That includes winning the Punchestown Gold Cup and a second in this season’s Hennessy – top class chasing form.
Selection: Planet Of Sound to win at 9/2 with BetVictor
3:25 Newcastle Betfred Eider Cl2 4m1f
The marathon trip shouldn’t become the slog of 2011 with the ground described as good to soft, but it still takes some getting.
Three of the top four from Kelso’s Borders National reconvene, with the betting suggesting they will finish in the same order with Eyre Square 13/2 (BetVictor), Mister Marker 8/1 and Captain Americo 8/1 (both Coral).
They could all be upstaged by Irish raider Portrait King. He has relished the step up in trip, finishing first and second on his last two starts. His trainer is adamant he will handle 4 miles, he won over 3m4f last time, and he looks a progressive sort.
