Newcastle Tips: Foolaad
Ran well at 6f and 8f at the track and his blend of speed and stamina marks him out as a useful horse.
Foolaad was a nice 11/1 winner for us at the start of the month and we can afford to give a little bit back given his progressive profile.
The 6-year-old showed plenty of early speed to lie up with a strong gallop over 6f and having previously raced over a mile his stamina helped him win by 1.75 lengths.
The handicapper has put him up 6lbs for that win but in the 7.15 Newcastle he races in the same grade and a step up to 7f might bring about further improvement.
Foolaad’s three races at Newcastle this winter have come in contests run at a strong gallop at between 6f and 8f. Every time he’s shown bright early speed and this blend of speed and stamina is rarely seen in class 5 handicaps. He travels smoothly in his races, like a good horse and his sectionals suggests that’s what he is.
