Goodwood Tips: Afandem
Quickened away nicely on debut clocking the fastest closing sectional by 0.47s and earning an adjusted speed rating of 87.
It might seem early in the season to be backing two-year-olds but Afandem looks forward in his development. He has to carry a penalty in the 1.50 Goodwood but the 6lbs is well deserved.
He was a mightily impressive winner on debut at Doncaster. In a race run at an even gallop he quickened away nicely to clock the fastest closing sectional by 0.47s.
Adjusting for pace, I gave him an speed rating of 87 which is amongst the best of the early season juveniles. He was only pushed out under hands and heels for his win and there is more to come.
One of the three un-raced horses could spring a surprise but they’d have to be something special to beat the impressive Afandem.
