Doncaster Tips: Misplaced Fortune

On yesterday’s times the going is quicker than the official description and that plays to her strengths.

I wasn’t going to get involved with the 4.05 Doncaster as I didn’t want to take on Prodigality but now that he’s a non-runner I’m interested again.

Misplaced Fortune is a horse I’ve not had much luck backing. Two starts ago at York she got no sort of run when stuck behind a wall of horses.

She is also ground dependant, with all her best form on a sound surface, something sadly lacking this season. Although Doncaster’s official going description is ‘good, good to soft in places’ I’m not convinced it’s that slow.

After the downpour, Even Stevens won the last race on yesterday’s card in a time only 1.04s outside of standard. For a class 4 handicap, that is a good time; it was the second fastest of the day if you compared seconds per furlong. With the ground in her favour and some better luck in running she could make a mockery of her 25/1 (Ladbrokes) quote.
