Doncaster Tips: Eton Rifles
Won the race last year and an unluckily fourth in 2011. Looks primed for another big run.
Eton Rifles has finished first and fourth in the last two renewals of the Wentworth Stakes (2.25 Doncaster) and he should make another bold bid.
At his best over 6f with cut in the ground we’ve not seen much of him this year. Whether that is ground or injury related I don’t know but on his belated seasonal reappearance he ran an absolute cracker.
Beaten only a short-head by Steps in a 5f Listed race at Ascot is very good form, especially considering he hadn’t raced in 11 months.
Connections like to target this race and having won by a length last year he looks primed for a repeat. We know that he is in good form and fresher than most of his rivals, he looks the pick at 6/1 (Bet365).
