Doncaster Tips: Captain Scooby

Won his last three races at 5f on going described as soft. This confirmed mud lark should relish conditions.

Given the heavy conditions at Doncaster I’m surprised there hasn’t been a market move for mud loving Captain Scooby in the 5.35.

The six-year-old sprinter is one of the most ground dependent horses on the circuit.

Record on going described as:

Good to soft or softer: 7 wins / 23 races
Good or firmer: 0 wins / 20 races

He finished a fair sixth on soft ground at Ripon last time out; racing over 6f he tired in the final furlong. That run needs upgrading as all his wins have come at 5f, apart from a shock victory around Kempton’s sharp 6f circuit.

Captain Scooby rattled off a quick hat-trick on soft ground last autumn and returned to those conditions he is overpriced at 11/1 (Boylesports)
