Doncaster Tips: Bedloe’s Island

Best performance last year was on soft ground. Grinds down his opponents and slow conditions will play to his strengths.

It seems strange to call a 5f sprinter a ‘dour stayer’ but with heavy conditions, that is what we need in the 5.00 Doncaster.

Bedloe’s Island tends to grind out his victories rather than employ an electric turn off foot. Although both his wins have come on ground described as ‘good to firm’ his best performance came in soft conditions at Carlisle when he finished a short-head second to Le Toreador.

He hasn’t raced for 273 days, but that isn’t a concern as he has won off a similar break before. He is well drawn in the middle of the track, will relish the conditions and is over priced at 25/1 (Betfred).
