Doncaster Tip: Fast Shot

Impressive winner last time out and back on an upwards curve.

In the last few races at Doncaster horses drawn high seem to have enjoyed an advantage at sprint distances. The field tends to gravitate towards the nearside rail and with the pace horses drawn high, you need a double-digit draw to be competitive in the 7.25.

Fast Shot just about qualifies from gate 10, but his early pace should ensure he gets a good spot just behind the leaders.

He was mightily impressive last time out at Ripon winning the race by 1.75 lengths. I’m not convinced he was favoured by the draw that day, as he raced in the smaller pack and could have done with more company. He probably hit the front too soon, having to race the last furlong on his own.

The win represented a return to the form he enjoyed last season. On several occasions he earned a speed rating I would equate with a class 2 level horse. Having regained his confidence he could progress again and is one to keep onside in the coming weeks. At 15/2 (William Hill) he also rates a great bet.
