Doncaster Tip: Dinkum Diamond
Been knocking on the door all year. Lightly raced and a shade unlucky last time out.
Most of the horses in the 3.10 at Doncaster contested the Beverley Bullet eleven days ago and that is where my research starts. We have the 2-3-4-5 from that race re-opposing today and it is Dinkum Diamond who should come out best.
A half-length third, he was forced to make his challenge slightly wider than the two pacesetters in front of him. Racing on the slower ground blunted his finishing kick and on another day he could well have won that race.
Having only his sixth start of the season he arrives fresher than most of his rivals. He has also placed all four times he has tackled listed company this year. Medicean Man is the big danger but the suspicion is he saves his best for Ascot and he has never won on fast ground.
