Connecticut Potentially Smart

Connecticut Potentially Smart

A wide margin winner on his seasonal reappearance and likely to be reaching his peak.

The Corsican is a horse I like unfortunately not in the Glorious Stakes (2.00 Goodwood) and certainly not at 2/1.

The value is in opposing him with Connecticut who is proven at 12f. Like many of Luca Cumani’s horses he’s made the leap from handicapper to pattern performer and it’s unlikely we’ve seen the best of him yet.

On his season debut he routed a Listed field by 16 lengths and there is every chance he improves from there.

His win at Pontefract came in a race run at an overly strong pace, which contributed to the unusually big gaps at the line but despite tracking a very strong pace he still recorded an excellent speed rating.

There are no stamina doubts where Connecticut is concerned and given a more even pace he can run even faster. He certainly looks up to Group 3 standard.
