Beacon Tarn Stands Out At Southwell
Impressive winner of her first two starts over course and distance. Flopped last time out but that could have been the bad draw.
I was mightily impressed by the way Beacon Tarn won her first two starts over course and distance. She won by wide margins in quick times despite the lowly grade.
Subsequently raised 10lbs, her limitations were seemingly exposed last time out when she was beaten by 7.25 lengths in a class 4 handicap.
However, I’m not convinced it was the extra weight or rise in grade that beat her – it was the draw.
In recent weeks a high draw, against the stand’s rail, has been a disadvantage over 5f and Beacon Tarn was drawn 10/10 when beaten.
I still think she is a horse with a huge amount of promise and from gate 2, I’m giving her a second chance in the 2.10 Southwell.
