Ayr Tip: Chosen One

Shown he retains his old ability, he can capitalise on his yard’s sparkling form.

The 3.00 at Ayr is a weak race, with neither horse at the head of the market an attractive betting proposition. I’m sticking with a trainer that has been successful this season – Ruth Carr.

Since the start of May, the Yorkshire trainer has had 22 winners from 123 runners; a strike rate of 18%. This is especially good considering most of her horses are handicappers.

Chosen One has taken a bit longer to regain his form but has shown that the ability remains. A third place in a class four race at Musselburgh was his best run of the year, easily good enough to win a race of this calibre. He has run a couple of clunkers at Haydock since but this has resulted in respite from the handicapper.

He now qualifies for class six races and considering he has won 6 of his 36 career starts, he looks a much more frequent winner than his opponents.
