The stalls in the 5.00 at Ayr have moved since the last meeting and are now placed on the stand’s side. That should help the horses drawn high, especially Beckermet drawn best of all in stall 12 of 12.
Once rated 110, he clearly isn’t the force of old but in a class five contest he can be competitive. He is enjoying a productive season, finishing no worst than third in his last seven races.
The key to this horse is six furlongs with a bit of ease in the ground, conditions he has struggled to find in the last two years. Twice he has met with this perfect combination; once he finished last and lame, the other he won. That win was in May over course and distance, he ran out a comfortable two-length winner. A repeat of that performance will see him win again.
