Ascot Tips: Viztoria

Ran a fine race in the Prix De La Foret despite the strong pace, extra furlong and supreme Moonlight Cloud all in opposition.

Irish trained horses hold the whip hand in the 2.20 Ascot and I wouldn’t be surprised if they took all the prize money home with them.

Maarek is the short-priced favourite after recent exploits and although he will handle the soft ground there seems to be very little pace in the race. This could cause a problem for a number of the runners, with the likes of Mass Rally, Jack Dexter and Hawkeyethenoo also needing a strong gallop.

If a muddling pace ensues I fancy Viztoria to go close. Her record with cut in the ground is 112116 and she ran an absolute stormer in the Prix De La Foret.

Qatar Prix de la Forêt 2013

Moonlight Cloud was the star-turn but eye-catching performances were put up by Gordon Lord Byron and Viztoria. Both horses were prominent in a strongly run contest and only folded in the last furlong.

Gordon Lord Byron is a proven Group 1 sprinter and Viztoria was only two lengths behind him.

She is clearly a high class individual having won the Group 2 Park Stakes and if Pat Smullen keeps her close to the pace she might prove difficult to overtake at 7/1 (Stan James).
