Ascot Tips: Kingsgate Choice
Been running well in less than ideal conditions and finally got the fast ground he craves.
Ed de Giles must have wondered if fast summer ground would ever materialise for Kingsgate Choice, but it has in the 4.50 Ascot.
He was a horse who went into my notebook back in May after running out an impressive winner at Lingfield. After the race Ed De Giles wrote on his website: “I think he (Kingsgate Choice) will come on bundles for the run and the handicapper will hopefully not clobber him more than 5-7 lbs but we shall see on Tuesday. He could be what he has promised and be a very decent horse.”
Since then he’s never got his ground. All of wins have come on good to firm or polytrack but he hasn’t raced on anything better than good all summer.
He likes to race off a strong pace, which he is guaranteed today and if he gets the gaps from a potentially tricky draw, he could scoot up the stand’s rail to win at generous odds of 12/1 (BetVictor).
