Ascot Tips: Goldream

Desperately unlucky when second at York. Well drawn next to the early pace and should relish the strong gallop.

The 1.55 Ascot is a competitive handicap but Goldream looks to have the perfect draw in the middle of the track. He is surrounded by early pace, with the likes of Zero Money, Fair Value and stable companion Jiroft all good horses to follow.

A combination of a strong pace and Ascot’s uphill finish, should account for the speedballs allowing Goldream’s extra stamina to come into play. He is a winner over 6f but he proved he has the pace for 5f when an unlucky second at York.

Tracking an even pace, he couldn’t find the gaps at a crucial stage during the race. He powered home when in the clear but couldn’t make up the lost ground and went down by a neck.

He was raised 3lbs for that defeat but he still looks well-handicapped and in a race run to suit he looks a good bet at 10/1 (William Hill).
