Ascot Tips: Gladiatrix

Needs a strong pace and a stiff track both of which she should get. Useful apprentice jockey taking off 5lbs also a positive.

Gladiatrix has not enjoyed much luck this season but she still looks on the upgrade and is good enough to win the 4.50 Ascot.

Rod Millman’s filly was unlucky to lose by a short-head at Newmarket at the end of June whilst defeats at Sandown were attributable to poor draws.

To be seen at her best she needs a strongly run 5f, ideally on a stiff track. Three of her career wins have come at Bath, which is predominantly uphill like Ascot.

Although she carriers top-weight, apprentice jockey Michael Murphy takes off a useful 5lbs, and he knows the horse well having won on her three times already.

On my ratings, I make her favourite for the race and anything above 5/1 looks a good bet.
